Aston Villa sign Danish international striker Stine Larsen

Aston Villa have announced their third signing in just two days after the arrival of Danish striker Stine Larsen.

The 24 year-old joins from French side FC Fleury 91 and will link up with the duo of Caroline Siems and Ramona Petzelberger who were unveiled yesterday.

Larsen previously spent six years in her home country with FC Brondby where she won the league title and reached the semi-finals of the Champions League.

Aston Villa were promoted to the Women’s Super League at the end of last season having finished their cut-short Women’s Championship campaign undefeated at the top of the table.

And Larsen is eager to get underway in England’s top flight.

She told VillaTV: "It’s good to finally be here. It really is great. It’s good to be part of this journey they’re on. I can’t wait to contribute.

"The English league is very competitive. The best teams are in France but here, it seems like every team is good. It’s very exciting."

And Villa boss Gemma Davies spoke to the club website about her new forward, adding: "Stine is a young Danish forward who has represented Denmark at all age groups and major tournaments.

"Stine is a traditional number nine who likes to operate inside the 18-yard box.

"She has an eye for goal and is dominant both aerially and with her feet.

"We are yet to see the best from Stine and we are all so excited to see how she continues to develop in a claret & blue shirt!"
