Commentary line-up revealed for inaugural female W Series Esports League

The W Series has announced an all-star commentary team for its inaugural female-only virtual racing series, the Esports League.

The brand new initiative looks to encourage more women and girls to engage in esports, a traditionally male-dominated area, by showcasing highly-talented female racers.

All drivers involved were selected for this year’s on-track W Series, which has been postponed indefinitely due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The commentary team features Luke Crane, who has voiced a number of high-profile eracing series and competed for over a decade himself in the sport.

Alongside Crane is British Formula One legend David Coulthard - a staunch supporter of all-female racing and a member of the advisory board for the W Series.

Coulthard, a 13-time F1 Grand Prix winner, said he was ’very excited’ for the series to get underway.

Formula three driver and previous winner of the Sports Personality of the Year Helen Rollason Award, Billy Monger will be on side to provide expert punditry on a sport he is particularly passionate about, while Lee McKenzie will be keeping the boys in check from her role as lead presenter.

McKenzie presented the on-track all-female W Series in its inaugural season last year.

She said: “Having presented W Series’ very successful first on-track season last year, I’m very much looking forward to presenting the W Series Esports League this year.”

Racing gets underway on June 11 as the female drivers ’battle their way around’ Autodromo Nazionale di Monza, Italy from the comfort of their own homes.
