Everton sign France international Valerie Gauvin from Montpellier

Everton have signed France international Valerie Gauvin ahead of the Women’s Super League 2020/21 season.

The 24 year-old striker has come from Montpellier where she made 90 appearances since signing in 2014 and last season she scored 14 goals in 16 games.

The club have not disclosed the length of her contract but head coach Willie Kirk is ‘delighted’ to have her part of the team.

He told the club’s website: "Signing Valerie is a real coup for the club and a sign of our ambition.

"For me, she is already one of the top strikers in Europe and taking into account her age and mindset, she will continue to get even better, and I'm delighted to be part of that future development.

“She is going to add a focal point to our attack and will be an important part of what is now a very exciting squad that we have put together.”

Gauvin has earned 31 caps for France and was part of the squad that made the quarter-finals at the 2019 World Cup.

The Women’s Super League 2020/21 season is set to begin on September 5.
