Everything you need to know about the north London derby between Spurs and Arsenal

This week we are previewing one Women's Super League game each day as part of Women's Football Weekend which kicks off this Sunday.

Yesterday, we looked at Reading vs Bristol City and next up we are previewing Spurs vs Arsenal.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Arsenal

Arsenal could go top of the table this weekend if they can beat their bitter rivals Tottenham and Chelsea slip up against Manchester United.

The Gunners were unbeaten in the league until Chelsea defeated them 2-1 last month in what could prove a pivotal moment in the title race.

Spurs have impressed since being promoted to the WSL back in May and are sitting in sixth position on goal difference.

The Lilywhites are level with Everton and Man United on nine points as the chasing back try to hunt down the top three of Arsenal, Man City and Chelsea.

This will be the first north London derby in the history of women's football and so will undoubtedly be a huge occasion.

The match is being held at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, a ground which can hold a maximum of more than 62,000 fans.

The Gunners' key player in recent weeks has been Dutch international Danielle van de Donk who has netted eight times in 12 games so far this season.

The 28-year-old came to Arsenal's rescue when they faced Manchester United in September with a last minute winner.

Meanwhile, Spurs' Rachel Furness scored Tottenham's first ever goal in the WSL from the penalty spot to secure head coach Karen Hills' women a top flight victory against Liverpool.

Furness has been a bright spark in the team throughout the first few months of the campaign and will be looked at as the one who could cause Arsenal problems.

Speaking about Furness, Hills said: "I'm extremely impressed with her on and off the pitch.

"Her experience around the girls, she's a leader, she's one of those players who will just pull everyone together and her football just speaks for itself."

Spurs vs Arsenal kicks off at 3pm and will be available to watch on BT Sport 1 and via the FA Player app.

NewsChain will also bring you a full report on the game as well as a round-up of all the other matches from the WSL this weekend.
