Golf legend and 13-time major winner Mickey Wright has died aged 85

Golfing legend and winner of 82 titles, including 13 majors, Mickey Wright has died at the age of 85.

Wright won three majors in one year, something only Babe Zaharias, Pat Bradley and Inbee Park have equalled since.

LPGA Tour commissioner Mike Whan said: "We lost a legend, but we may also have lost the best swing in golf history today. Our thoughts are with her family and friends."

Wright's majors included four US Women's Open titles, four Women's PGA Championships and has only been bettered by the 15 achieved by Patty Berg, who died in 2006.

88-time LGPA title winner Kathy Whitworth said: "She contributed so much to my career success and to my life as well.

"What a blessing to play alongside Mickey. It was impossible to be around her without knowing she was someone very special."
