Newly-promoted Aston Villa sign Caroline Siems ahead of new season

Women’s Super League club Aston Villa have announced the signing of defender Caroline Siems.

The 21 year-old has joined from Bundesliga side FFC Turbine Potsdam where she made 24 appearances, and was part of the squad which finished fourth last season.

Siems has also worked her way up the ranks at youth level for Germany and has represented her country since she was 14.

She said: “It’s amazing being part of the Pride really!

"I’m excited to be able to join this adventure, and to be able to play in another country at my age. I’m very pleased to join such an exciting team.

"All the other signings are big names, so I’m proud to be part of that.

Anita Asante and Lisa Weiss are obviously very experienced, and I’m very happy about that.”

Manager Gemma Davies added: "Caro has gained experience in the German Bundesliga as an attack-minded full-back.

"Caro is still only young and has a huge amount of potential.

"She has the ability to play on both feet, is comfortable playing in wide areas and inside the pitch.

“She will bring an exciting dynamic to our attacking abilities.”

The Women’s Super League 2020/21 season is set to begin on September 5-6.
