England rugby player Sarah McKenna speaks out on body image and positivity

England rugby player Sarah McKenna has said that she's become more positive about her body as she's got older

She was speaking to the England Rugby podcast in their International Women's Day special.

She also added that in modern times everyone is more focused on body positivity.

"I think we all have [struggled with body image], we didn't have role models ourselves [visible within rugby], nowhere to thread the line in terms of how we want to present ourselves.

"I think in this new age of social media everyone probably does doubt themselves. Either how they look or how they look in certain pictures, your cellulite in a certain picture, that one shot in the game where the photographer gets you.

"Everyone doubts themselves, but as I've got older I've learnt not to care so much. Learning not to care is probably one of the best things to get out of becoming older but I think there's so much more body positivity, at the moment especially.

"People will be like 'yeah that is my body and that's what it looks like, that's what a strong woman playing rugby looks like'. There's no defined set ways of what someone powerful and strong should look like."

International Women's Day is taking place on Sunday and the Red Roses will play Wales in the Six Nations the day before with a kick off time of 12.05pm.
