West Ham sign Swedish forward Nor Mustafa

West Ham have confirmed the signing of forward Nor Mustafa from Swedish side Eskilstuna United.

The 18 year-old is the fifth player to join the London club so far this summer as manager Matt Beard continues to bolster his squad for the new WSL season.

Speaking to the club website, Mustafa said: "This is a very big thing for me. I am very honoured and proud to be representing West Ham, who are such a great club with a very big history.

"I really like the way Matt [Beard] coaches. I’ve heard very good things about him and that West Ham is putting so much time and effort into women’s football. That’s a big thing for me and makes me very happy.

"Matt has helped a lot of young players to develop and become world-class players. Of course, I want to be one of them and I’m very excited to work with him. All of the girls have been nice and very welcoming, so it feels good.

"I would describe myself as strong. Even though I’m big in size, I also think I’m very technical. I think that’s one of my greatest qualities. I’m quick and powerful too. I would say: ‘Be ready for Nor!’"

And Beard added: "I am very excited by Nor’s talent. We have to remember she’s a young player, but she is a real presence and has all the attributes to become a top, top player.

"For me, the big thing is she just wants to learn and get even better. She has a fantastic personality with the drive to improve.

"She will be a handful for any defenders in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League this season and, in Nor, we have an additional option up front to further improve our attacking line."

Last season’s WSL season was cut short due to the coronavirus pandemic, with final placings decided by a points-per-game method.

West Ham finished eighth in the table, ten points clear of relegated Liverpool.

The new WSL campaign is set to being on the weekend of September 5-6.
