England star Tammy Beaumont signs for Melbourne Renegades for 2019 Big Bash

England women's cricketer Tammy Beaumont has signed for the Women's Big Bash League side Melbourne Renegades for the 2019 edition of the tournament.

The 28-year-old boasts an impressive T20 record with six half-centuries and a century to her name and dominated for the Southern Vipers in the Kia Super League, amassing 239 runs for the tournament.

Beaumont was also a member of England's World Cup winning team in 2017 topping the team's run table with 410 runs at an average of 45.5.

Her international prowess will be invaluable to the Renegades whose captain, New Zealand's Amy Satterthwaite, will be absent for the season after announcing she is expecting a baby with wife and teammate Lea Tahuhu.

Tahuhu has announced she will still represent the Renegades this year but no direct replacement has yet been made to fill the captain's role.

Fellow England player Danielle Wyatt will also be playing for the women in red, adding to an already impressive line-up.

“The Renegades are a side on the rise and the Big Bash is such a tough competition so I’m looking forward to testing myself against some of the best players in the world,” said Tammy

"I'm thrilled to be heading back to the Big Bash. I've played against a lot of the talent in the Renegades line-up so it'll be nice to be playing alongside them this time," she added.

Head coach Tim Coyle was delighted at the addition of the England player. "We're excited to bring some fresh faces into the squad and set ourselves up to be challengers for the title this season," he said.

He acknowledged her international class saying: "Tammy has made a real impact on international cricket and we're pleased to have her on board."

The WBBL05 gets underway on October 18 and runs until December 8 with Brisbane Head hoping to defend their title.
