Fallon Sherrock to pair with Italian ex-footballer Luca Toni in Celeb Darts World Cup after BDO pull-out

Britain's darts queen Fallon Sherrock will be teaming up with Italian football legend Luca Toni in the Celebrity Darts World Cup this weekend in Germany, after pulling out of the BDO Women's World Darts Championship.

Her withdrawal came after organisers slashed the prize money on offer for the new event at the Indigo at London's O2 arena this weekend.

The female players were originally told if they won the world title they would receive £20k, only to be told it had been cut to £8k after disappointing ticket sales.

Sherrock will now be forming a darts partnership with the former Bayern Munich, Roma and Juventus footballer, Toni and is expected to earn a healthy fee, for her trouble.

She recently created history at the PDC World Darts Championships becoming the first woman to beat a man. But her historic journey came to an end after she was beaten in the third round by Chris Dobey.
