England star Izzy Christiansen leaves Lyon and re-signs for Everton

England football international Izzy Christiansen has re-signed for Women's Super League side Everton from French club Lyon.

It was rumoured that the 28-year-old was moving to her former club earlier in the month but they have now confirmed the news.

The midfielder played for the Merseyside club in the 2008/09 season before moving to Birmingham City. Christiansen then went to Manchester City for four seasons before spending last year at Lyon.

She said: "I am really happy to be back at Everton, I have a lot of friends here and it is a huge club, so I can't wait to get going.

"I am really excited to be part of this club, not just on the pitch but off it as well.

"I used to train at USM Finch Farm when I played for Everton back in the day and I can see how the training facility has grown. The fact that the women's team are fully integrated within this great facility is testament to that."

The player could feature in her first match for Willie Kirk's Toffees in their game against West Ham this Sunday.
