Manchester City keeper auctions bee boots for Houghton's husband foundation

Manchester City goalkeeper Ellie Roebuck is auctioning off a pair of personalised boots in aid of a foundation close to team-mate Steph Houghton's heart.

The boots, which Roebuck wore during the season-opening Manchester derby, feature a multi-coloured Manchester worker bee which became a symbol of the city's resilience following the terror attack at the Arena in 2017.

They are being sold to raise money for the DarbyRimmer MND Foundation, which was co-founded by Houghton's husband, Stephen Darby, after he was diagnosed with motor neurone disease last year shortly after they married.

Roebuck tweeted: "I’ve decided to auction off these Manchester bee @pumafootball boots which were hand crafted especially for derby day to the highest bidder! All the money will go to @DarbyRimmerMND foundation!"

Man City's next WSL match is away to Everton on September 29. Kick off is at 12.30pm
