Matildas star Hayley Raso forced to delay Everton debut due to broken nose

Matildas Star Hayley Raso will have to wait to make her Women’s Super League debut after having an operation on her broken nose.

Raso was elbowed in the face during Australia’s Olympic qualifier against China this month but continued playing despite being injured.

The 25-year-old signed for Everton earlier this year and fans were hoping to see her on the pitch before the Matildas Olympic play-off on March 6.

Raso had to break the news that she won’t be featuring in the Toffees line up just yet.

She wrote on Instagram: “Unfortunately broke my nose in a few places last game and needed an operation to straighten it up!

“A minor setback for me, but I’m already looking forward to getting back to work with the @matildas and finally starting my next journey with @evertonwomen."

She isn’t the only Matilda in the WSL. Caitlin Foord is expected to play her first Arsenal match this weekend in their rescheduled FA Cup tie with Championship side Lewes.

While Sam Kerr has been playing in England’s top league since January.
