Sunderland Ladies beat north east rivals Middlesbrough 4-3 in a thrilling FA Cup second round tie. 

The two National League North sides took it in turns to trade blows in a pulsating second half at the Eppleton Colliery Welfare Ground which saw them share five goals.

It was left to Bridget Galloway to settle the match as she swept home her second to book The Black Cats' place in the third round.

Melanie Copeland's side will travel to Fylde in the next round as they bid to reach the last 32.

Elsewhere, there were comprehensive victories for both Portsmouth and Loughborough.
