Castleford Tigers Women win Super League Leaders' shield

The Castleford Tigers Women have won the Super League's Leaders shield.

The rugby leagueside have had an unbeaten season, winning all 13 of their league matches.

Last night they defeated the York City Knights in an incredible 44-0 win to claim the shield. 

Half-time saw the Tigers up by 26 points following tries from Tara Stanley, Lacey Owen and Millie Walsh.

Rhiannon Marshall bagged herself a second half hat-trick and the points just kept coming.

Tamzin Renouf sealed the game with a late try to take the total number of tries scored to nine.

The win means they have a three point lead over St Helens going into the final round of the league.

The last time the Yorkshire club lost was to the Leeds Rhinos in the final of the Women's Challenge Cup in August.

The top four of the league is made up of the Tigers, St Helens, the Rhinos and Wigan Warriors. The semi-finals take place over the next month.

The final will be played at the Totally Wicked Stadium in St Helens on October 11 and is being televised for the first time by Sky.
