Women's Super League preview: Brighton and Liverpool in crunch relegation clash, Arsenal, Manchester City and Chelsea resume title race and Manchester United look to close the gap

The Women's Super League returns this Sunday following a three week break.

And there is very little time to waste as struggling sides Brighton and Liverpool face off in a potentially pivotal relegation clash.

Both sides have managed just one win between them all season, which came when The Seagulls beat Birmingham 3-0 in November.

The Reds are currently above Bristol City and out of the relegation place by virtue of goal difference, although did show promising signs towards the end of 2019 that culminated in a 1-1 draw with title contenders Chelsea.

Brighton sit three points above Liverpool but have picked up just one point in their last four league games and finished the year on the end of a 5-0 thumping from Man City.

The momentum and improvement in performance would lead many to favour Vicky Jepson's Liverpool in this one, but given they are still winless Brighton will fancy their chances of picking up a huge victory.

Meanwhile, the title race continues to hot up as league leaders Arsenal host a disappointingly tepid Birmingham side who have scored just five times in ten games.

Man City will look to close the three point gap at the top if The Gunners do slip up as they travel to Spurs.

And unbeaten third-place Chelsea will be seeking a bounce back win over Reading after dropping points to Liverpool last time out.

Any dropped points by the top three could leave the door ajar for Manchester United to mount an incredibly unlikely title bid as they sit 12 points off Arsenal heading into the second half of the campaign.

The Red Devils host bottom club Bristol City with a victory ensuring they maintain their fourth place spot as Everton, Reading and Tottenham breath down their necks.

Elsewhere, Everton make the trip to the Rush Green Stadium to face West Ham as The Toffees look to rebuild following end-of-year losses to Arsenal and Man United.

A full round-up of all the weekend's results will be brought to you on the NewsChain website as soon as the final match has concluded.
