Six Rangers players sign professional contracts to play in the SWPL

Six Rangers players have signed professional contracts to play in the Scottish Women's Football League in what is a major boost to challenge Glasgow City.

It has only been recently that some players in Scotland have begun to be paid with the chair of Scottish women's football, Vivienne MacLaren, saying it was her dream for the sport to be semi-professional just last year.

Brogan Hay and Emma Brownlie have signed 18-month contracts with the club while the side have also signed goalkeepers Jenna Fife and Megan Cunningham, and midfielders Demi Vance and Kirsten Reilly.

Glasgow have dominated the league for the past 13 years and head coach Gregory Vignal believes these signings could be the key to success.

He said: "I can't wait to see who is going to be here. I'd like to win the league to be honest. I think if we continue to work hard and put in the effort and work hard for each other and the coaching staff and the club as a whole I really think we can do it."
