Australian T20 World Cup winners Mooney, Carey and Gardner sign for The Hundred

Three members of Australia's T20 World Cup winning side have been added to the roster for the inaugural series of The Hundred.

Beth Mooney, Nicole Carey and Ash Gardner will all compete in the first edition of the competition in July.

Mooney, who is now ranked as the top batter in the world after her phenomenal World Cup performance, will join her international captain Meg Lanning and Jess Jonassen at the Welsh fire.

"I'm really excited to take part in the first season of The Hundred," she said. "It looks likes it is developing into a high-quality, world-class competition.

"As head coach, Matthew Mott is building a really strong side at Welsh Fire and I can't wait to get out there with my new team-mates."

Meanwhile, Northern Superchargers have signed up Carey, adding her to a line-up that also includes Alyssa Healy and England's Lauren Winfield, who will skipper the side.

And for Gardner it's a trip to the Midlands as she joins Birmingham Phoenix alongside New Zealand's Sophie Devine and England wicket keeper Amy Jones.

The two other internationals to be announced are the South African pair of Marizanne Kapp, who will play for Oval Invincibles, and all-rounder Chloe Tryon, who will join up with London Spirit.

"It's fantastic to see five more international stars signing up to play in The Hundred this summer," said Beth Barrett-Wild, head of The Hundred.

"The competition is really building momentum, and it's very exciting to see the growing list of world-class talent involved across the eight teams."

Each team can sign up to three overseas players ahead of the tournament which gets underway on July 22 when Birmingham Phoenix host Manchester Originals at Blackfinch Road.
