Tottenham host Liverpool for the first time ever in the Women's Super League

Tottenham and Liverpool will both be seeking their first victories of the season when they meet at The Hive Stadium this afternoon.

Neither side managed to score on the opening weekend as they both suffered 1-0 defeats against Chelsea and Reading.

It is the first time Spurs will face the Reds in the Women's Super League following their promotion last season.

Spurs and Liverpool fans, would you be happy with a draw today? Two defeats from two games is something neither side will want to try and bounce back from.

21 mins: Tottenham 0-0 Liverpool

I can spot a player when I see one.

Furness looks dangerous again as she charges at the Liverpool defence and unleashes a venomous shot which swings narrowly wide.

Moments later she is almost played in by Kit Graham but Anke Preuss is out smartly to smother.

Furness could be the key to Spurs' hopes of avoiding relegation this season. Clearly a very gifted forward.

24 mins: Tottenham 0-0 Liverpool

Spurs are growing into this game. Their passing is becoming less Spursy as they seem to be controlling the ball with more assurance.

Graham starts off the attack again as she gets away from her man with ease.

She tries to dink a ball over the top for Furness but it is cut out in the nick of time.

The newly promoted side becoming a threat in this one.

27 mins: Tottenham 0-0 Liverpool

One thing Liverpool do look solid at is defending. They look very well organised as a unit and Spurs are struggling to break them down.

But the Reds midfield has been woeful in the past 15 minutes or so, giving the ball away at every turn.

Gemma Davison is running things in the middle of the park.

Ayane goes for a speculative effort as she cuts in from the left hand side and tries to bend one. Well, well over.

Nice of her to give those in the stands the ball for a bit..

30 mins: Tottenham 0-0 Liverpool

Would love to know the difference in possession stats between the opening ten minutes and the last 20.

Liverpool dominated the ball early on but have barely had a kick in the last quarter of an hour.

And Graham, Furness and Davison have given the Reds backline all sorts of problems with their movement.

34 mins: Tottenham 0-0 Liverpool

Little bit of Spurs' momentum has been lost in the last few minutes.

Liverpool begin to try and reclaim some sort of confidence in the game, but Lawley can't wriggle away from the swarming white shirts mid-way inside the Tottenham half as the home side clear once more.

36 mins: Tottenham 0-0 Liverpool

Jessica Clarke finds a bit of joy down the left for the second time in the half.

Her cross is controlled by Courtney Sweetman-Kirk who lays the ball off well, but Lawley's shot is blocked and the move breaks down.

Very few clear-cut openings as we near the break.

38 mins: Tottenham 0-0 Liverpool

You get the sense Liverpool are becoming a little frustrated.

Clarke lets fly from 20 yards but it's a comfortable save for Becky Spencer.

41 mins: Tottenham 0-0 Liverpool

The game is flatlining.

Clarke and Lawley are starting to control the tempo of the match.

Having said that, it's not particularly hard to control the tempo when the tempo has dissipated.

Both sides look happy to settle for a goalless half.

43 mins: Tottenham 0-0 Liverpool

Just as I say that Furness yet again puts her boot through the ball from distance and Preuss has to be alert to palm it away.

Long range efforts have been the story of the half.
